In November 2019, I participated in a workshop hosted by environmental charity Action For Conservation at The Green School for Girls in West London. Working with secondary school students, the aim is to inspire, educate and empower the next generation of conservationists and environmental activists. Students apply their learning, by taking action on issues they care about in their local surroundings, in school or where they live, acquiring project management, presentation and teamwork skills in the process. My focus for the programme was to look at where artists, whose practices talk to issues of climate change, sustainability and the environment, can be involved in the programme and inspire student projects. We are hoping to raise funds for a rooftop wildlife garden in a school in Whitechapel in 2020, with the assistance of art, design and architecture students.
